Some People Carry It Well. It Doesn’t Mean It’s Not Heavy.

Lately, I’ve been reminded of how little we actually know about what others are carrying.

It’s so easy to judge, but the reality is everyone goes through something that they might not talk about. We all have our struggles. And let’s admit, some people struggle harder.

But to be kind is universal.

Human connection is the most beautiful thing in this world. If you would just let go of judgments and try to connect genuinely, it might heal yourself and others and lessen all of our struggles together.

Some people carry their burdens so well that you forget they’re carrying them at all. That doesn’t make them any lighter.

“I told them what they needed to hear”

Have you ever been brave enough to say,
“I told them what they needed to hear, whether or not they liked it.”

Unfortunately, we often think helping our friends face reality is courageous. But if they didn’t ask, we may be hurting more than helping. Unsolicited advice is rarely welcome.

It can make us feel better about ourselves when we share our experiences to “help.” But if they didn’t ask, it’s rarely actually helpful.

I’m sure you’ve been there too. When you needed a friend, but instead got someone telling you what you should do – even when your energy wasn’t there yet. So why do we do the same to others?

Advice is great. We just need to make sure the person is ready to receive it. It doesn’t matter if we’re older, wiser, or have been through the same thing.

Sometimes a listening ear is all they need.
